Cambridgeshire girls played their hearts out to ensure the County stayed in Group 3 after an epic weekend in Wrexham.
The team of Aisha Brown, Sama Malik, Megan Carmichael, Chaaya Malik, Laurie Criuckshank, Lydia Sivirentsava, Natasha Scott and Charlotte Laing travelled to Wrexham for 18 County Cup in Group 3b on Thursday 22nd February.. An incredibly narrow loss to Dorset on day 1 was followed by another close match against North Wales on the Friday, but unfortunately, the opposition squeaked another one. The last day saw Cambridgeshire play North of Scotland needing to win to avoid relegation. A battling performance by the whole team saw them take the match, retaining their spot in Group 3. Team captain Sue Rich said ‘l am so proud of the team who fought really hard all weekend despite illness and injuries. They need to be really proud of their efforts and were a real credit to the County and definitely deserved to stay up. All of the team can play again next year so l hope we will start to progress upwards.’ To read the full match report click here

The three-day long weekend of the County Cup saw the Cambridgeshire Under 18 Boys' Team stage a remarkable fight back to retain their place in Division 3, ending in 3rd place above relegated Buckinghamshire... Sussex won the group with a final day win over Hampshire who finished 2nd.
The Cambridgeshire team comprised Charlie James, Nick Ghaznavi, Yujiro Onuma, Zach Cox, Vincent Chen, Sam Clark, Jan Ortonowski and Alex Wardley. To read a full report please click here.. |
