Lawrence Hopkins, Haslingfield Lawn Tennis Club's Treasurer, has been awarded the LTA’s Volunteer of the Year for the Central and East of England region. Lawrence, of course, does much more than look after the Club’s money—as well as being part of the team that brought the Club its third court and floodlights, he organises our annual tournaments, produces our newsletter and is captain of the successful Men’s 2. Lawrence said “I was astonished when I heard I had been nominated for this award. I just do what I do because, along with the other members of our excellent Committee, I want to see HLTC be a thriving, successful Club. I get so much satisfaction from seeing loads of people playing tennis in Haslingfield—that’s what it’s all about for me.” Lawrence was presented with his award (and a Centre Court ticket) by David Rawlinson, Deputy President of the LTA at the LTA President’s Lunch at Wimbledon.
